MOLDING TALK EP.17 has completed on September 30, 2021. We regularly do 1-hour casual talking every two weeks at 1:00 PM through Google Meet, moderated by Mac (Fluent Thailand) and Hank (Effinno Technology; Taiwan).

This week, we talked about the “OBJECTIVE” of the 1st try-out (new mold) continue from EP.16. Due to one of the audience’s suggestions

The  mold Try-Out is sometimes called mold trial, and they are the same things. The 1st Try-out is the word we use in MOLDING TALK. The 1st try-out of the new mold is the last process following the mold-making project schedule. The 1st try-out is done after mold assembly, and it is the first time clamping on the injection molding machine.

Mr. Narongsak, one of the audiences shared the 1st trial procedure using in his factory. The main objective is to validate the mold functions (moving parts, water leakage, air venting, ejecting, lifter, etc.) In addition, the aim is to get as much as possible the information that concerns cycle time and quality specifications from the 1st try-out.

Hank Tsai shared his point of view related to the 1st try-out objective. The completion of mold design, movement, venting, and function should be checked before the first try-out, primarily ensuring the mold can continuously runs a molding cycle. If not, you must move the mold down and repeat upload during the try-out. The aim of 1st try-out is for the benchmark process condition, target to focus on the acceptable process condition. The second one is for to know all the problems appear during the first process condition run. Then the molders make the list of all issues they found for analysis, specify the method, and plan to solve all matters step by step. The rush to solve the problems during the 1st try-out without systematic analysis may not be correct, especially the problem of incorrect design (if still have).
